Post by Peter Lotz, M.C.J. (NYU) Attorney, Attorney-At-Law (N.Y.) MAYRFELD Rechtsanwälte & Attorneys-At-Law

We established MAYRFELD in 2016 based on our [conviction] that legal advice today must go one step beyond traditional working routines and internal firm structures. The establishment of our law firm as an English LLP was meant to underline our strictly international and cross-border practice.

In the course of the BREXIT, however, we decided to transfer the business of MAYRFELD LLP to a German professional limited liability partnership (the "PG") founded by all partners of our LLP in order to continue the LLP's business and our "tradition" of innovative legal advice for which MAYRFELD has been known in the market.

Due to certain restrictions on the naming of German professional partnerships , the PG initially was established as "Lotz Rechtsanwälte Partnerschaft mbB". Upon completion of the acquistion of the LLP's business by the PG, however, we will include the name MAYRFELD in our PG's company name. The partners of the partnership company are all identical with the partners of MAYRFELD LLP.

From February 1, 2020 on we will, therefore, continue our practice under the name "Lotz Rechtsanwälte Partnerschaft mbB" until the name "MAYRFELD" is entered in the partnership register. Notwithstanding, we will continue our practice in the meantime under our registered MAYRFELD brands. Since we have been operating out of Germany from the LLP's establishment on, our address will not change.

Our partner Peter Lotz will be glad to answer your questions in connection with the continuation of our practice as a German professional limited liability partnership by phone or by e-mail at peter.lotz@mayrfeld.com.
